Word: Fufiling God's Purpose for our Life

Fulfilling God’s Purpose for Our Life

"But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, and be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." Phil. 3:7-14
These words were not written by a young enthusiast starting out on the Christian road. They are the testimony of a mature Christian towards the close of a rich and full life.
Thirty years had passed since Paul's conversion. During those years, God had used him to establish many churches, mightily attesting his ministry with signs and miracles. From the start, Paul had spent himself unstintingly in the work of the gospel, travelling constantly and undergoing great hardships. He had come to know the reality of victory over sin as he grew in likeness to his Lord. And among his many joys he had had one unique experience of being, as he put it, lifted up into the third heaven to receive remarkable revelations of spiritual truth.

Yet at the end of all this, he states that he still has not attained to all that God had purposed for his life. Here is one of the greatest Christians of all time saying towards the end of his life that he still needs to press on to the goal.
To most believers, alas, salvation begins and ends with the new birth and its assured escape from Divine judgment.

Not so for the apostle, nor indeed for anyone else who seeks, like him, to be a true disciple of Christ. Here in this passage, he declares his firm belief that Christ had laid hold of him with a purpose. He, in return, was determined to lay hold of that purpose at any cost. This is a tremendous and solemn truth, that when the Lord lays hold of us at conversion, it is with a purpose extending far, far beyond just the saving of our souls out of hell fire and into heaven. If so mature a man as the apostle Paul had to say at the end of thirty years of untiring Christian service that he had not yet attained but had still to strive to fulfill all of God's purpose for his life, what a vast thing that purpose must be.
Paul goes even further in this passage. To him, everything that the world considers as precious is worthless rubbish when compared to this supreme objective of grasping the purpose of God and fulfilling it. He considers this a prize worth giving up everything in the world for (Phil. 3:14). When we look around us and see believers coveting worldly possessions and clinging to material things, giving these a greater place in their lives than the things of God, we are forced to conclude that their Christianity is very far removed from Paul's.

It is a mark of spiritual infancy to think of salvation only in terms of an insurance policy to escape the flames of Hell. When we mature spiritually, we realize that God saved us in order that we might walk each day in the pathway that He has already planned for each one of us from eternity (Eph. 2:10). That pathway was what Paul called God's purpose for his life. If we are satisfied with having received His grace, but are uncommitted to fulfilling His will for our lives, then no matter how thoroughly evangelical we may be, we shall go through life without accomplishing anything of lasting value to God. Of course the Devil's first aim is, by one means or another, to blind people to the grace of God in Christ Jesus, thus preventing them from being saved (2 Cor. 4:4). But if he does not succeed there, then his next aim is to blind that new believer to the fact that God has a very definite plan for him. To a large extent he has succeeded here. There are thousands of true believers who never seek the will of God with any degree of earnestness, even in major decisions that they make in their lives.

The Christian life is depicted in this passage in Philippians as one in which we have to be continually pressing on. No degree of spiritual maturity attainable on earth will ever absolve us from this need of constant urgency. It is because many believers have neglected this lesson that they have no living testimony. Their only testimony relates to an experience in the distant past when on a blessed day they perhaps raised their hand or signed a decision-card in some evangelistic meeting. That was wonderful, but nothing has happened since! Prov. 24:30-34, with its picture of a garden gone to waste, describes the condition of the man who relaxes after his salvation. A garden requires constant weeding and caring, if it is to be guarded against weeds and nettles - and so does the human soul.

Understanding God's purpose and pressing on to attain it is not an optional extra for the spiritual elite. It should characterize the life of every true child of God.

Word : The Heart of Man

The Heart of Man

There are a lot of assertions about the heart.  The scriptures take the hearth very important   because it is a small organ that manages the whole body and as small as it is it can cause havoc into a live if not properly managed. The heart, naturally has some characteristics that can impair your spiritual life. A lot of people are faced with a lot of challenge, problems, quarrels, setback which could have been prevented if they have identified kind of heart peculiar to them.

The bible says in: Jer 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
Naturally; The Freedom of the heart is to THINK, WILL & ACT from its affections.
ü The heart can be deceptive.
ü The heart can be Tricky.
ü The heart can be Evil.
ü The heart can be confused.
There are different categories of heart; we will analyze today;
v Unsaved Heart: There are a lot of people that are not born again; a lot of people go to church but are not born again; many of the pastors are not born again.

"For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." {Rom 10:10}
What we need is;  genuine bible salvation.
"Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling {Phil 2:12}
You need to work out your salvation; it should not be the compromising one; not when it is convenient; not about the popular believe and trend.
Salvation it's free but you need to work to make heaven.
Not all born again will make heaven.
Simon the sorcerer  was born again but, his hearth is not right with God. He was following the apostles; peradventure also talking to people about the gospel but because his heart was not right, he asked peter to give him the power to do miracles. {Act 8:9-25}
v Wicked Heart: If a person does not put his heart under the guide of the Holy Ghost, you will tend to enjoy doing evil. People with wicked heart are dangerous to be friends with.

v Discouraged Heart: When some people are faced with trials and challenges, the usually easily give up, they are discouraged. Such people should pray against the discouraged heart. "If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small." {Proverbs 24:10}

v Double-minded Heart: There are some people that are also full of doubts; even when the promises of God is so clear and sure they are still double minded about it. "A double minded man is unstable in all his ways." {James 1:8}

v Selfish heart: This category of people with this type of heart always wants to have all the good things of life to themselves and nobody will have it. Some of the symptoms of the category of heart is the urge to keep acquiring, even when you don’t need it.
v Proud heart : People with this heart are usually too proud to accept the truth. When the Holy Spirit is reproofing them through a lower status person, they will feel too ridiculed. Symptom is the sign of arrogance. "Then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the LORD thy God, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage{Deut 8:14}

vObstinate heart: These people will refuse to yields to correction because of this kind of heart. Such people are usually destroyed at the end of the day because there is no counsel to put them to the right way. "But Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him: for the LORD thy God hardened his spirit, and made his heart obstinate, that he might deliver him into thy hand, as appeareth this day" {Deut 2:30}

vFearful heart : These classes of people are very fearful.  Where they face any situation that is new and not looking pleasant, their heart jumps up in fear; they begin to think of every possible negative that could happened. "The foolishness of man perverteth his way: and his heart fretteth against the LORD{Prov 19:3}

vHeavy heart : When people with this kind of hearth have troubles; they will let it burden them. The heavy heart is not able to give any solution but instead confuse, complicate the issue the more and it is even difficult to pray with this kind of hearth. "As he that taketh away a garment in cold weather, and as vinegar upon nitre, so is he that singeth songs to an heavy heart." {Prov 25:20}

vTroubled heart :  Problems of life is normal. Being born again does not excuse you from the troubles of life. The bible says that “You shall have tribulation, Rejoice, because He has conquered the word.” The bible also says that; God will deliver you in trouble and not from trouble. When faced with this troubles, the troubled heart is not able to receive this word of God; instead, begins to panic. "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid"{John 14:27}
vFoolish & Darkened heart : A lot of people have been brought down because of the foolishness of their heart; it is such heart that claims that ; God does not exist. Such people’s heart is now darkened that they cannot see the light even when it is obvious."Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened" {Rom 1:21}
v Deceitful & Mischievous heart: People with such heart are fraudulent and cannot be trusted with any business, their family or any position of integrity. "O Jerusalem, wash thine heart from wickedness, that thou mayest be saved. How long shall thy vain thoughts lodge within thee" {Jer 4:14}
Your need to examine your heart and do a cleanup; because of the deceptive attribute of the heart, one might think all is well. "Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?" {2 Cor 13:5}

One of the keys to success in life is to be able to guard your heart.

I pray that, your heart will not take you to hell fire, in Jesus name.

Word : The Danger of Depending on Human Wisdom

The Danger of Depending on Human Wisdom

Ecclesiastes has been included in Scripture to show us that even the wisest man on earth can miss finding God when he depends on his human cleverness. Jesus once said, "I thank You, Father that you have hidden these things from the clever and the intelligent, but you have revealed them unto babes" (Mt.11:25). What do babes have that clever and intelligent people do not have? Humility; It is very difficult for a clever, intelligent person to be humble. It is not wrong to be intelligent, but it is certainly ungodly to be proud of one's intelligence. Proud men can never understand God's ways, no matter how intelligent they may be.

Ecclesiastes demonstrates how one can have a lot of knowledge and yet not be spiritual at all. The human wisdom that is found in psychology today has many good things in it. But it is not divine wisdom. And it is more dangerous when divine wisdom is mixed with human wisdom than if you had human wisdom all by itself. If someone wanted to poison you, he would mix a little bit of poison with a lot of milk. Things that are totally bad are easy to detect. But psychology has a lot of good in it - and that is why it can be dangerous. It is not divine wisdom. Divine wisdom comes from the Scriptures alone. Many things that psychologists say, who do not submit their minds to God's Word, are wrong. If you follow them, you will go astray.
In Ecclesiastes Chapter 3:1-8 we find that Solomon was a keen observer of human nature and the world. After many years of observation, he discovered that there was a time and a season for everything that happened. There are true and falsestatements here. Psychology is a mixture of truth and error. Solomon says that there is a time to give birth, a time to die and a time to plant. All of that is correct. But then he goes on to say that there is a time to kill and a time to hate! For a spiritual man, there is never a time to kill or to hate - and there are no human beings he hates. A spiritual man dwells in God and loves all people, all the time.
There are psychologists who teach that if you are angry with your father, the way to get rid of your anger is by beating a pillow, imagining that that pillow is your father! Solomon probably believed something like that when he said that there's a time to hate. But that's not God's way. Jesus said, “Love your enemies." So here is an example of Solomon's worldly thinking coming in to this book. Religious preachers add their worldly wisdom to God's Word when they preach. We need to be careful here. If we don't live in humility and brokenness before God, it is easy to be led astray by human wisdom, because much of it sounds right.

Let me give you one example: A new teaching has arisen in Christendom called "visualizing". This teaches something like this: "Close your eyes and visualize that you are going to have 5000 people in your church, even if you have only 5 right now. Visualize that you are meeting in a very large building, even if you are meeting only in a small house at present. If you are lame, visualize yourself walking. If you only own a scooter, visualize yourself owning a nice, new car - then you will have the faith necessary to get these things - and you will get them." Most of such visualization is in relation to earthly luxuries and large church-buildings, etc., I have never heard anyone teaching people to visualize themselves“taking up the cross and dying to themselves and following Jesus"!! The teaching of visualization comes from the modern“New Age" philosophy (which is a counterfeit of Divine truth) and from psychology, not from the Bible. Yet many believers who don't have discernment imagine that this is how they can increase their faith.
Faith is not based on visualization. Romans 10:17 is clear that "faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of Christ". Faith can be based only on what God has spoken. Abraham could not have got Isaac by visualizing that Sarah would give birth to a boy. His faith was based on God's clear promise. You can't start visualizing whatever you want and expect God to give that to you. That's the teaching of psychology, not of the Bible. Positive thinking may be good for business people, but it is not Biblical faith. Jesus and the apostles did not do miracles by visualization or by positive thinking. It is easy in these days, to be deceived by such counterfeits. The book of Ecclesiastes therefore has a warning for all of us in these days, of the danger of depending on human wisdom.
